She said it would happen...

Recently at an agility trial the weather was atrociously HOT! I mean it was 98 degrees and humid!!! Most club who sponsor show will make they have kiddie pools and hoses so we can cool down the dogs and keep them from overheating when they perform their runs.

Once in a while the people also find it necessary to cool down too. I caught my friend Christie doing just that.

Well she did say she would end up on my blog.
I hate for my friends to be wrong.

She's a genius

Training has begun and little Kindle is a quick study. Her tummy gets filled quickly so I have to make the most of mealtimes. I took this while hand feeding so the quality is not wonderful but still cute as heck!

She is really doing well and has also mastered sit and hand touches. This is great preparation for Puppy Obedience class which we start next week. I am hoping we can get her dad to come film part of the class so we can share all the cuteness with you all.

I am certain there will be more cuteness to share with you all. So stay tuned.

Meet Kindle

Can you stand how cute this baby is?

I have tried a few names out on her, you all recall Rika from Smokin' Sweet Paprika, but it just didn't fit her. We tried Mirrhi which is the aboriginal word for little girl, but it just didn't seem right. Last night I did a word search on fire and found kindle.

Webster's definition:

Kindle \Kin"dle\ (k[i^]n"d'l), v. i. 1. To take fire; to begin to burn with flame; to start as a flame.

It fits nicely, she has certainly started a fire in my heart and her new dad's as well. I like the way it sounds and it is a great name for an agility, herding dog.
I am sure I will bore the tar out of you in the next few months but I am already enthralled with how fast she learns. I will also drone on about the training I am doing. Because I am a dog trainer my dog will be in situations most family dogs don't have to deal with. She will do demonstrations for my classes, help me evaluate dogs with behavior problems, travel extensively to dog shows, seminars etc. compete in obedience, agility and hopefully herding. So I am laying a foundation to help her be comfortable everywhere! This will be nice fodder for blogging so come on back if you are interested.

In the meantime I have to go walk Kindle cause all she does is eat, pee and poop. But I don't mind. this stage passes quickly and I just love her.

Woohoo I have my new baby!!!

Well my sister Dlyn and I treked to Pennsylvania on Tuesday and picked up my new baby dog. She is AWESOME!!!! You can see a short chronicle of our trip if you click at Dlyn's blog AND, there are couple pictures of the baby. We had to stay in a motel and she was pretty good, only a little screaming. Beta our baby (well formerly baby) cattle dog went too. She loves her new sister but is a bit jealous of all the attention the pup gets from me.

Training has already begun. I have charged up the clicker and taught her to sit and down and we are working on hand touches. She is way smart and I am just thrilled with her!
I am a little tired though. I imagine it is a bit like having a new human baby. An eating, peeing, pooping machine so my sleep has been intermittent at best. But it will be so worth it.

Here's one picture I took. The rest were mostly a blur since she never stops moving unless she's asleep.

Oh and I still have not settled on a name so leave me a suggestion.

We're expecting!

Yes, it's true we are getting a new baby. We are very excited and just look how beautiful she is.

Yup another Australian Cattle dog and a red to boot. She is 8 weeks old and I pick her up next week. My sister Dlyn, photographer extraordinaire will make the trip with me so it will be well documented. Our current youngest dog Beta came from this same breeder so will go along to visit with Grammy and Gramps and meet her new little sister.

What a face!

I have not named her yet but we are kicking around a few names. My favorite so far is Wooleston Smokin' Sweet Paprika and we would call her Rika. We thought about Bandito but discovered it is a very common name. If you have a good idea give us a suggestion. It must start with her kennel name, Wooleston and I expect her to be high drive and fast so put your thinking caps on.

One last photo. This little one is to be my new obedience/agility/herding competition dog but after seeing her conformation I might also take my first plunge into the breed conformation ring.
Look out Westminster!

What do you think!? I can't wait to get my hands on her.

Wednesday Photos

Just a few photos to let you all know I am still here.
This beautiful pond was on the show grounds at an agility trial about a month ago.
This house is in New Hampshire where we also had an agility trial recently. It looks like such a perfect New England house.
This lovely orchard is the side yard.
Lastly, Scott found this weird plant where we camped that weekend. Anyone know what this is?

We are off to another show this weekend. Wish us luck.
