Its all about the dogs

Just a few pics from this week. Kindle has grown almost as big as Beta now. They are good friends and love to play together. I know this is blurry but they just never stop moving! They sleep well though.Even Jackaroo has begun to grudgingly play with Kindle. He does not like sharing his sticks though. Jackaroo believes all sticks belong to him!
I'll leave you with this today. This is Beta's version of basketball and just more antics in the yard. Have a great day.

More Photos

We have a busy day planned so I thought I would leave you with a few pictures from last weekend that never got up here.
I bet you wondered why Tyler wasn't in the family swim photo. Well he says "Norwegian Buhunds do not swim, they nap!"

A lot!

For all of you who were wondering when I would let Jackaroo, the shark, loose with Kindle, well for a little over a week they have actually been playing together in small doses. He is doing great but she doesn't trust him completely yet. Smart girl.

I just love this face.

More swimming Cattle Dog style.Have a great day all.

Puppy Update

Oh we have been so busy but I have been admonished by my niece Ellyn (go look at pictures of my fabulous great neice & nephew!) for not posting any current puppy pictures. So for our fans, here are a few from last weekend at the agility trial.

Winee and Kindle had lots of play time.

Kindle had a snack

They had a little cuddle time.
Kindle hung out with mom for a bit and then.....
Crashed.

More puppy stuff

I have had 7 dogs since I became an adult and each has been a new experience especially since I started formally training dogs and teaching others to train their dogs. Kindle is number 8.
Watching little Kindle grow, change and learn is just fascinating. Because I have specific goals in mind for her, I have started her training with a particular "bend" toward those goals. One thing I desire for her is independence but still a strong bond with me. So I am letting her experience the world with my support.
She is discovering the toys in the yard and is experimenting playing with them. Sometimes she stalks them and pounces on them, but sometimes she is frightened of them and backs away barking at them. Once she figures them out she is crazy for them!

She has also experimented with going farther away from me in the yard. She keeps a good eye on me though and if she gets too far away she comes running back to get her courage. I reward her and send her off to continue investigating.

More tomorrow.

She's a genius

Training has begun and little Kindle is a quick study. Her tummy gets filled quickly so I have to make the most of mealtimes. I took this while hand feeding so the quality is not wonderful but still cute as heck!

She is really doing well and has also mastered sit and hand touches. This is great preparation for Puppy Obedience class which we start next week. I am hoping we can get her dad to come film part of the class so we can share all the cuteness with you all.

I am certain there will be more cuteness to share with you all. So stay tuned.

Woohoo I have my new baby!!!

Well my sister Dlyn and I treked to Pennsylvania on Tuesday and picked up my new baby dog. She is AWESOME!!!! You can see a short chronicle of our trip if you click at Dlyn's blog AND, there are couple pictures of the baby. We had to stay in a motel and she was pretty good, only a little screaming. Beta our baby (well formerly baby) cattle dog went too. She loves her new sister but is a bit jealous of all the attention the pup gets from me.

Training has already begun. I have charged up the clicker and taught her to sit and down and we are working on hand touches. She is way smart and I am just thrilled with her!
I am a little tired though. I imagine it is a bit like having a new human baby. An eating, peeing, pooping machine so my sleep has been intermittent at best. But it will be so worth it.

Here's one picture I took. The rest were mostly a blur since she never stops moving unless she's asleep.

Oh and I still have not settled on a name so leave me a suggestion.

We're expecting!

Yes, it's true we are getting a new baby. We are very excited and just look how beautiful she is.

Yup another Australian Cattle dog and a red to boot. She is 8 weeks old and I pick her up next week. My sister Dlyn, photographer extraordinaire will make the trip with me so it will be well documented. Our current youngest dog Beta came from this same breeder so will go along to visit with Grammy and Gramps and meet her new little sister.

What a face!

I have not named her yet but we are kicking around a few names. My favorite so far is Wooleston Smokin' Sweet Paprika and we would call her Rika. We thought about Bandito but discovered it is a very common name. If you have a good idea give us a suggestion. It must start with her kennel name, Wooleston and I expect her to be high drive and fast so put your thinking caps on.

One last photo. This little one is to be my new obedience/agility/herding competition dog but after seeing her conformation I might also take my first plunge into the breed conformation ring.
Look out Westminster!

What do you think!? I can't wait to get my hands on her.
