He's baaaa-ack
I thought my little green visitor had moved on but I found him hanging out on the patio enjoying my day lilies.
He is a cute little feller, isn't he?

Weezee's Doggie Dispensary
Its been an interesting week. Between Wednesday and Thursday I have had all 5 dogs at the vet office. this is the scene I awoke to this morning. No mistake that I included the coffee pot.Jackaroo is the only one who has not had to have a procedure or end up on antibiotics. I only had him tested for Lyme disease as he usually gets it once a summer and I have pulled boo coo ticks off him this year.
Blessedly he tested below treatment levels. Tasha was not so lucky and starts a round of antibiotics today. She already was treated back in March but her levels are still high. I hate those pesky little ticks. Can someone explain their usefulness on earth please. I mean do they serve any function other than being a royal pain in tush? Harrumph!
Kindle the baby has a lingering bladder infection, wrecking havoc with house training and yes folks round worms. Oh yuk! I have never had a puppy with worms before so this really grossed me out and of course led to worming all 5 dogs and we will do that again on 8/21.
Beta has a hot spot on her tail she will not leave alone and so had to have her little tail partly shaved and its slightly infected so she is on antibiotics. Her lovely little tail now looks like this:
And Beta looks like this:She hates this collar even though I told her camo is all the rage right now. I have threatened her with a traditional Elizabethan collar because she got out of this one already. She is a notorious escape artist when it comes to this stuff. Twice a day she has to be cleaned and re-bandaged. Big fun, trust me.
Tyler had a cyst sort of thing that had to be removed. I was afraid it was a melanoma so I am really thanking God! it was nothing. He is fine now and does not need further treatment, well except for the worming. My vet who is wonderful by the way, is a little richer and we a little poorer and I feel like we are a doggie hospital. Its all been a little challenging but I know it could have been worse. I came home yesterday and finally applied for doggie health insurance. They will probably laugh at us.
OK, I'm going to have a cup of coffee. Have a great day all.

My new header
I've had a few comments about my new header. I thought I should give credit to the photographer. My friend Sheila vacations in Maine every summer and she captured this amazing lightening last summer at the beach. I just love the colors and the "fingers" of bolts.
So Sheila, thanks for sharing.

Sharp Shooters
Last week Scott and I took a pistol safety class. I wasn't sure how I would like it but the class was really interesting. I learned to load a revolver and semi-automatic, how to clean a hand gun and lots of safety stuff. It was very interesting and the guy teaching the class was entertaining. I was really pleased I scored a 94 on the written test. Scott got 100, show-off!
On Saturday we finished the class at the shooting range and that was really fun. We shot everything from an old style single action .22 revolver to a .45 semi-automatic. The instructor also had a 460 revolver, it was mammoth. I didn't shoot that, the percussion from everyone else shooting it was enough for me.
Here's a small sampling of the guns we used. I got used to the recoil and the noise pretty quickly and concentrated on my aim. I did much better than I thought I would. I was sure I would never hit the target and truly my shooting was quite respectable. Not only did I hit the target but had my share of bulls eyes.
Here I am shooting a .38 double action revolver. I loved this gun, it was very accurate and with .357 cartridges packed quite a punch, er, boom!Scott's a really good shot but he has had guns for years and so has more experience than I. It was fun to go together and we met some really nice people.
So I'm hooked. I'm applying for a license. I really need to practice until I hit that bulls eye every time!

My Little Green Visitor
Isn't this little guy cute? I couldn't find this specific frog but I think he is a type of American Tree Frog. (My sister Dlyn will look him up for us cause this will drive her crazy)
I found him hanging out on the deck railing the other evening. Just hanging. He was little nervous about me snapping pictures of him.
Then I put a pen next to him to give some perspective and that really gave him a start. He's just so tiny!!!
I was afraid he might jump but in the end let me snap away and stayed to chat while I grilled our dinner.

Its tough Job...
You guys know I am a dog trainer and like any job there good things about it and bad things about it. There are times when I am afraid I am in danger and there are times I am afraid I will be licked to death. But by far my favorite part of doing this for a living is when I do Puppy Temperament Testing.
Last Saturday I tested a litter of 5 Whippet pups. Oh my gosh, you talk about cute? Well just look!
The breeder is a student of mine. You may remember little Lacey the whippet learning the A-Frame back in January. These pups are from another dog that student owns.
The test helps determine what type of home each pup will be placed in. Whether they will live life as performance dogs competing in lure coursing or agility or whether they will be pets and companion dogs for children or seniors.
This is Connall,
and Dancer.
Mom Bridget with the whole family!!! The other pups are Murphy, Sloane and Keaton. Such lovely little pups. They hardly ever stop moving so taking pictures was a challenge but I am sure you can see they were a delight to work with.
I love that I had a small part helping these little ones to homes where they will be loved members of the family.
Definitely the most fun part of my job.
